Default I got a 1993 Honda Accord Sedan not with an F22 but with an H22 Prelude motor, will it be...

...fine for smog? I live in Southern California, and I have the 93 Accord Sedan LX and i took out the F22 motor (ORIGINAL) and stuck a H22 prelude motor. Same 2.2L as the F22. Will it pass smog? What're the so called laws and regulations, I know that there is no more illegal smog for u can get ur license tooken away and serve up to 10 years in jail. Say I report it to the DMV and tell them that I swapped the engine what would happen? Hope you can help. thanks!

from the information of a shop owner, that i asked last year, they sed that as long as the displacement is the same, there shouldnt be a problem. If the displacemnt is different then every, exhaust, gas and engine will need to be changed to the new engines specs. u should call up ur local shop to ask them to be sure.

They will never notice the change unless the are familiar with Honda engines. If it looks original they wont investigate further. However its been modified from original and California laws call that a fail for the visual inspection if they notice its been changed. You can under very certain circumstances get a waiver from the Bureau of automotive repair due lack of original parts available for repair but looks like you wont qualify because of the parts being available to repair the original engine. You are right about fake smog they wont do it anymore.
