Default Poor MPG with a 92 Honda Accord?

My 1992 Honda Accord was averaging 28-30 MPG six months ago. Now it is averaging 23-25. I thought it might be because the gas companies started putting ethanol into the gasoline. The car has a new K and N air filter, new spark plugs and wires and the tires are filled properly. What else could be causing this low gas mileage?I have been doing more highway driving lately and I drive very conservatively. No jamming on the gas.

It could be the ethanol,or the fact that in winter your engine runs rich during cold start-up and driving. Also cold air is denser,so more air resistance while you drive.

A faulty o2 sensor will produce bad gas milage even though there isnt a check engine light on. Make this the first thing to replace.Replace the gas cap. If it isnt holding a tight vaccum seal the motor will run rich.Another thing would to replace your egr valve.

you might also want to make sure that your suspension alignment is up to spec.

if you put ethanol in your car you will get worse gas mileage compared to just regular. That is where you are losing your gas mileage. Try switching to regular and you should be back where you were originally. Thanksgene
