Coupe: Trims available in the coupe body style (introduced in 1993) were the DX (EJ2) and EX (EJ1).Hatchback: Trims available in the hatchback body style were the CX, DX, VX (EH2) and Si (EH3). In the European Domestic Market (EDM) the trims available were the DX(EG3/1.3L; 75ps), LSi(EG4/1.5L 90ps) , ESi(EG5/1.6L SOHC VTEC 125ps) and the VTi(EG6/1.6L DOHC VTEC 160ps).Sedan: Trims available in the sedan body style were the DX, LX (EG8) and EX (EG9).The DX was the base model, equipped with manual windows, defroster and power brakes. The LX added AM/FM cassette player, cruise control, wheelcovers on 14 inch wheels, and power windows, locks and mirrors. The EX added air conditioning, a power sunroof, upgraded stereo and deluxe wheelcovers, as well as the more powerful VTEC. The SiR/VTi did not have power windows or locks.

most older civics come in the standard dx which is a base model. the lx is the next step up generally with power mirrors, automatic, etc the ex is next with the single ever head cam vtec engine now somewhere in there was a cx,vx, and hx.the sir is the canadian model of the ex and the type r is a jdm spec vehicle

DX 2,3, and 4 door is base model pretty much nothing in it, LX 4 door with power windows, EX 2 and 4 door with a vtec motor with all options, SI 2 door vtec dual over head cam, Type r is only in Japan unless ordered and stronger than SI/SIR

They have changed throughout the years, but the 2006 and newer models go (from cheapest to most expensive): DX, LX, EX, SiThe Special Edition was an option package added to the EX model on the last generation civic ('01-'05). It included stock ground effects and a spoiler.
