Default '86 Honda Accord LX-i with PGM-FI light?

Any ideas what would cause a PGM-FI light to turn on (PRoGrammed Fuel Injection)? It doesn't seem to be anything critical, but I'd like to resolve it soon.

You have to connect a scanner to it and find out the code that's tripping the light. the PGM-FI light shows a problem with the fuel injection system, same as the check engine light in other cars.

First, you cannot hook a scanner to this car-you have to get a service manual to pull codes.the problem can be anything in the fuel system.some you have to jumper two wires and others have a flashing led light on the computer. the reason you cannot just hook up a scanner is it is not an OBD vehicle.follow the procedure in the manual to retrieve and translate codes-hope this helps

The ecu is under the drivers seat.Looking from the backseat forward you will see a little plastic window that needs to be poped out.Count the number of blinks. If you have trouble with the plastic cover remove the seat to get to the ecu.4 12mm bolts hold the seat in.Let us know what you find and will look up the trouble for you.Mark
