Did I waste my money time doing a timming especially by the dealer. My 2000honda accord se had 23,000 miles 8 years and garaged. I was told that your timming belt should be replaced if you had 100,000 miles or 7 years which ever comes first. So I had my timming belt, water pump, belts, ect. So does this car have a interference engine

I am skeptical because I never replaced timming belt, water pump at so low a millage. Does the time factor really dry out the belts if your car is garaged.

You might have had the job done cheaper at a smaller shop,but at Honda you know they did it right and stand behind it.Most Honda engines call for a timing belt change at 65,000-70,000 miles.Only 1 Honda engine is supposed to not be a interference engine and that is the a20.Still some people say it is.
You think a timing belt change is bad, wait till you have to pay for a head rebuild and replace pistons with holes in them.Mark

When I had a 1990 Civic Si my timing belt broke with less than 40,000 miles. Lucky it wasn't an interference engine! But I don't remember how old it was...
