Default honda civic coupe 07 EX HORRIBLE GAS MILAGE!?

According to fueleconomy.gov im supposed to be getting at least 25 mpg city driving. I live in san francisco where there are steep ass hills and pretty bad traffic but i don't see how that explains me gettin about 17 mpg ( i got 220 miles on a full tank). I've been driving like a grandma for the past 2 weeks making sure that its not my driving thats the problem. There are no lights blinking in my car and everything sounds fine. My tire pressure is also not the problem. What are some other factors that can contribute to me getting shitty miles on my civic? What should i do?i shoudlnt say bad traffic.. its more like im at a stop light every 10 seconds

Keep up the maintenance on the car even if its new that will help the gas mileage.

every time you stop and go in traffic or lights ect. it wastes more gas. if you stayed at a consistent speed with no or little stop then you should get the right gas miles. theres not much you can really do.

I have an '06 Civic Cupe EX and I think I get great mileage on my fuel. I guess it also helps that the car is driven on the highway about 85% of the time. But, stop and go traffic is bad on gas.

think of it this way, when you are sitting at a light or in traffic and not moving, you are getting zero MPG. that zero MPG brings down your avg. MPG over the course of a tankful of gas.it is like a bowling avg., one bad game and your avg. drops like a lead balloon. hope this helps.
