Default Civic starts then turns off.?

after not driving my civic eg4 1.5 lsi for a week, i returned to drive it, to notice a problem. it was consuming way too much fuel. i used to calculate 30 miles from a fiver. but the max i had was 18, but twice now, its given me 6/7miles from a fiver. I was driving to the trafford centre when i reached a downhill slope, and the car hesitated to accelerate. i kept on accelerating, but it just died on me. i called a mate down, got out the jump leads, still no luck. then i got some fuel, and it instantly started. i have sinse changed the fuel filter, (which had black fuel in it) and the spark plugs. Yet still i have the problem. Anyone know what it could bee? ive read on it, could be a defective catalytic converter/fuel pump. please help!!!!nope, im sure its not wrong fuel or oil. however, a few months earlier, alot of glass fiber came out of my exhaust. if i put fuel in my car, it will just vanish, this is why i do not put fuel in. also, when the car stays started ( by repeatedly pressing throttle) air pops out of the air filter instead :s how weird

Well what you need to know is what the fuel pump pressure is.If it is weak it will not supply eneff fuel to keep it running.Have the pressure checked/

Uh, fuel isn't supposed to be black. Any chance it accidently got diesel in it or some other stuff ? Like oil ? Is possible someone might have messed with your car and put something in your tank. Good Luck.

you have a plugged exhauste system(fibreglass in exhauste pipe), a new cat converter is needed. Have the exhauste systems checked.

Default Re: Civic starts then turns off.?

I thinks this may eventually require the starter to be examined more closely. good luck..
