The biggest symptom of a torque converter going out is rough shifting. If you go from park into drive, the car with jump real hard, like you just got rear ended.

Bad in what respect? A torque converter that is broken inside will result in a transmission that won't move.a torque convertor clutch that is not releasing on deceleration will cause the car to shutter and in some cases stall when coming to a stop.a restricted passage to the torque convertor can cause the torque converter to engage with a hard jolt.a torque converter clutch normally engages at 40-45 miles per hour. a problem in the clutch control system or in the pressure circuits could cause the car to "judder" or feel like the engine is misfiring as the torque converter clutch kicks in and out while driving.I thinks thats the typical list of symptoms for a torque converterhope it helps
