Most people don't beleave this............Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to have them made at a Honda Dealership. Beleive me I know I am in the business. It could take as little as 15 minutes. And cost as little as$10It is all according to if the key is a chip key or not.If it is not a chip key Got to Wal-mart, Home Depot or Lowes

first what year is your car, depending on that will depend on where you get your key if its a late model you will have to go to the dealer because there is a chip in the key that only the dealer can make .2) it dosn't take long at all if it is a key they have in stock so call the dealer to make shure .3) for a new honda key with a chip your looking at 50 to 100 dollars , if its not a chip key maybe 10 dollarsas for this guy above me i dont know what buisness he's in but i've been selling honda for 15 years and have a clue what honda keys cost . call the dealer and you will see good luck

You can only get the key for that car at a Honda dealer because it has a chip in the key and it has to be programmed. You have two choices--one with the remote as you have it and another option is a valet key that will lock and open the doors only and that does not have the remote features.Because the keys have a chip in them they need to be reprogrammed when you replace a key. Only the Honda dealers can do the key programming as it requires a special tool called a scantool.Honda dealers usually charge about $90-$100 for the valet key and about $140-$150 for the key with the remote. You will have to have your existing key with you when you get the new key made as it will have to be reprogrammed as wellI would recommend you call several dealers and ask them for a quote on replacement keys. For some models replacing a remote key with a valet key may not be an option.hope that answers your questions.

ok first off you can only get one key for your car and it does not come with a keyless entry pad on it Honda didnt make keys with the entry pad on them for the accord untill 03 for your model the keyless entry is on a pad not on the key itself and there there is no valet key for you car either because once again Honda did not offer the two differint key models for the accord untill they came out with the 03 model there is only one type of key available for you car and it cost around 35 bucks from any honda dealership not 90 to 110 so do not listen to honda guy he has no idea what he is talking about if your car were an 03 or newer he would be correct but since it is not he is not since 98 all Accords have an imobilizer system witch means you have to get a key from a honda dealer because there is a little chip in the key that sends a signal to the imobilizer and tells it that the key is for the car and will start it take these steps to get your new key 1st. go to any honda dealer go to the parts department and tell them you need a extra key made the key will cost you around 35 dollars 2nd . after you get the new key cut go to the service department and talk to a advisor tell them you need a key programed then they will take your car program the key witch takes about ten minutes and most of the time they will do it for free if they dont it will cost about 20 bucksif you do not program the key it will not work it will not start the car unless it is programed and you cannot program it yourself because you have to hook your imobilizer up to hondas interactive network through a data pad plugged into your pcm port and the only people that can do this are people at the dealership so spend 30 minutes out of your day and 50-60 dollars out of your pocket at a honda dealer and you will have your new key and it is the only way to get a new key for your car
