Default 92 Honda Civic?

Well, I was driving down the interstate one day, and only drove about a mile when the car started to make a noise, I cant really describe it, but I'm going to tell you what exactly happened. I was going about 70mph then I felt the car kind of struggle to keep up at that speed. Usually when I press the gas pedal, the car goes without a problem but now, whenever I'm at a stop I have to press the gas pedal far down in order for it to accelerate and for it to get a start. It seems that I have to press the gas pedal really far down to run then it slowly starts to speed up. Should I run the car like this? What could eb the problem?

Fuel filter or the fuel pump, maybe injector(s)? If it is the fuel pump get ready to shell out some major cash! It could even be your fuel rail I guess. I am no mechanic though, I've just been through several car problems lol, so you might want to take it to someone you trust to take a look at it. Usually it doesn't cost that much just to have them look at it and give you an estimate. Good Luck!

What you are describing sounds like a classic description of a catalytic converter that has melted down. When a converter fails the exhaust can't get out of the engine so the car looses a great deal of power. You may also hear a 'roaring' noise under the car as the exhaust tries to get out through the intake air system.a replacement catalytic converter on that car is about $150 at any exhaust shop.beyond that, a slipping automatic transmission or a worn out clutch on a manual transmission would also have similar symptioms but neither would cause the 'surging' that a catalytic converter problem would.another possibility is a restricted fuel filter but the size of the filter on that car makes it a more remote possibility. if you haven't changed the fuel filter since new I would recommend you do that.a technician can confirm a bad convertor with a simple test of engine vacuum. it shouldn't be expensive to diagnose it if you take it to any shop.hope that helps

It's probably the VTEC. Bring it to your local Honda dealer. They'll fix the problem properly. It shouldn't be a problem. Civics are Hondas, and they are the best. They last forever. Good luck.
