i am in the market for a new car and came across these two. the accord has 167k and the altima has 103k. The accord is also selling for 3000 and the altima at 2500 so which do you think is the better value. I at least plan on keeping it another 2 years so which one is the better value? The alitma is a GXE and it looks like the accord is an LX. Both are automatic. Both 4 doors

Both cars are good, and will last you way beyond 2 years. You need to find out more information about each of the cars. Some simple information would be what "trim" are they. The Accord has 4 or 5 different trims (DX, LX, EX, SE...). Plus are they automatic or manual (automatics cost a little more). Are they 2-door or 4-door? What condition are they in? If you go look at the cars, the Altima might be a little rusty, but the Accord is in great condition. All those things affect it, as well as many more things. Go buy a copy of Consumer Reports Used Car Buying Guide ($10). It will tell you lots of helpful things on what to look at visually on the car, and what to pay attention to when you're test-driving it.From what info you gave, the Altima is a slightly better value. The Accord is overpriced by about $200. But as I said earlier, the Altima might be banged up a little and that's why it's cheaper.

check both cars for leaks on th engine seals, see if the cars shift into gears smoothly ... if both cars were manitained right i'd go with the honda..... the older altimas are kinda wack .... at least honda if you maintain them you can drive forever i still have a 91 accord and its fine

They're both pretty good cars from an overall reliability standpoint. You can probably drive either of these cars to 200K provided they were properly maintained. The decision should be based upon the overall condition of the car.You should look for service records, examine the cars well, even have an independent mechanic check them out. By then they should have had their timing belts/water pump changed (they usually go at around 90K). Good luck.
