Default I just bought a new civic and spent 2k on an extended warranty that covers me 8 years,

should I get a refund? It's an 08 civic, and it covers basically only the engine, transmission and the A/C. No belts, hoses, breaks, suspension or anything else. 8 years /120k miles. I have a week to choose wether I need it or not and still be able to get a full refund.

I would definately get a refund. If any part on the car is bad, it'll show up under warranty. After that it's just normal wear.

well most would say no because civics last forever lolwhich they do last for a ridiculously long amount of timebut i have heard of some rare but true occasions that the transmission needs replacing or.. well thats the only thing i've heard... lolwell money wise i would say no... (in the short run)but yes in the long run... because my friends tranny went out a few months after purchasing (its an '01) and costed 2700 to fix

Take the money you would have spent on the extended warranty, and put it in a bank savings account or a Certificate of Deposit. If you do keep the car long enough that you'll need the coverage provided by this warranty, you'll have enough money in that savings account to pay for any repairs.

Get the money back. Cars are becoming more and more reliable over the years. especially the Japanese cars. Recent studies have shown that the Honda Civic and Accord are the best bet for your money. I bought a 07 Accord few months back and turned down the extended warranty. If you do want to be on the safe side, Insurance companies offer Mechanical warranties at alot cheaper rates than the official dealers. You might want to look into this. Hope this helps.
