I just had some work done on my honda; a tune up, oil change, new plugs, and filters. It came to around 50$. This mechanic I go to does a good job and he even told me what to look out for in the future.
The following day, it doesn't want to start. I was able to start it in the morning once to move it across the street. The tow truck driver told me it sounds like the timing belt, and he was right. I am now looking at 750$ for just fixing the belt and valve that was damaged, but upwards of 1150$ if I decide to repair the water pump and gaskets. I was just wondering if it was possible if the timing belt damage could have been caused from the tune up. It's just odd to me that the car has worked perfectly till the day I return from getting work done. It has 126k miles. I need to check my receits to see if it was changed in the past. I read that it should be changed at around 90k miles. |
