Let me start by admitting I'm not mechanically inclined, but that's never stopped me from trying. I have a 2002 Honda Accord, and need to replace the passenger side mirror. The whole housing unit was knocked off. Is this something I may be able to do myself. Also, and this might show my ignorance, is it possible/easier to install a manual mirror instead of another electric one. Thanks in advance.

My right side mirror on my HX got broken by a gate. I pulled off the inside plastic cover and unscrewed it off. But some aftermarket M3 style replacement power mirrors off of ebay and installed it but it was a little guesswork with the wiring because it wasn't a direct plug in.
Try getting a good replacement one with a direct plug in plug. Should then be an easy install.
