I've got a 96 Accord LX, 103,000 miles, manual transmission. Yesterday after the car sat for a few hours in the cold (upper 20's) it didn't want to shift into gear, any gear, directly upon starting it up. After working it it would go into gear with a little effort. After getting it on the road and driving for a minute it would then shift just fine, silky smooth with no effort just like it always has.
This morning it did the same thing, didn't want to go into gear upon startup then works perfectly after driving for a minute. My first thought here is the transmission fluid as I can't recall the last time (if ever) I had it changed or even checked. Is this likely the issue? Thanks for any suggestions or thoughts, Jack |

As a follow up to my question for google search purposes:
My mechanic found that the master clutch cylinder was low on fluid. He bled the lines and filled it up with new fluid. He was unable to find any leaks so at this time we're going to let it go and (assuming the problem doesn't immediately return) check it periodically. He said if it continues to lose fluid he would recommend replacing the master cylinder. |
