Sounds like a problem with your front right shock absorber. You may want to get them checked by a mechanic next time you get your tires rotated. On a '98 it is probably in the mid 100k miles range it may be time to change them out anyway. Unless it is driving different it should not affect the safety. I would put it through its paces on a streat when no one is around or in an empty parking lot to make sure it is still handling well. Do some fast starts and stops and some tight turns to make sure it is still safe incase you had to avoid something on the road. Good luck.

It could be the bearing, just lift that side of the car and make spin the wheel and if it make a grinder noise could be the front pads or the bearing either one, however if after you checked both, and if keep making noises;I'm afraid that it could be the CV joint.Unfortunately to make a diagnostic you ought go step by step, good luck...

Since it is a front wheel drive car I would check the CV joint and front strut.

the squeaking noise might be your brakes.
