Unhappy 2005 Honda Civic EX wants to overheat

I need some help! I changed the thermostat and it worked for a about 60 miles then it wanted to start to overheat. filled the radiator porperly with fresh coolant checked the hoses leading to the radiator upper and lower. No signs of leaks. The piece where the thermostat goes, i noticed spray marks from radiator fluid. coming out by the hose. Ant suggestions it has 61,000 miles on it. I really need this fixed I have to go on a long drive in a couple of days!

Did you put the thermastat back in the same way it came out, they only work if put in the right way.Did you also bleed all of the air out of the system,on my engine by the thermastat there is a bleed valve for purging all of the air.
Open it up till no air comes out only antifreeze.

Yes we put it back in correctly. But no we didn't purge it or get out the air. How can we do this , do we have to empty all the coolant and then refill by clamping the lines ??????

If you follow the top radiator hose back to where it connects to th engine you should find a little nipple with no wire going to it.It will be within a couple of inches from the hose end.The base of it will look like a nut,12mm i believe. With the engine cold, start it and open the bleed valve and close it when you see no more air coming out.

Red face Re: 2005 Honda Civic EX wants to overheat

Okay I have ben driving the darn thing since my last post It still wants to overheat, I didn't try the purge thing. I will now, I am looking for the little nipple thing and I see one that has a black nipple doesn't look like a nut, but almost like a valve stem cover, would that be it, it comes off by pulling it off??? Please let me know I appreciate your help. I can't afford a mechanic right now!
