Just bought my 08 Accord EX-L 4 cyl sedan 5 days ago and I am experiencing the same issues, headlights will dim for a split second then kick back to full power. It happens every 2-3 minutes and is very annoying. I am going to contact the dealer first thing in the morning.

My 2008 Accord EX-L I4 has the same problem. Just picked it up from local Honda service department. They acknowledge the problem, but cannot fix it because Honda has not developed the fix yet. Reportedly the fix is a new engine computer and wiring harness for the computer. Sounds expensive to me and is likely why Honda is trying to minimize and hide the problem. In fact the Honda District Rep ordered the Honda dealer to close out my repair order so that the Georgia 30 day Lemon Law clock would not expire.

I will get around this by taking the car to two other dealers for a repair "attempt" and then Honda gets one last try.

If you have a lemon law in your state, I suggest you get a copy of it and figure out what you need to do to comply with the consumer side of the law. Once Honda has to start fighting the Lemon Laws or they have vehicles declared lemons, then they may hurry up and develop and fix.

I'm tired of waiting. I'm tired of the District Service Rep not returning my calls and mostly I'm tired of the lights dimming every 20-30 seconds at night. This is a safety issue (maybe not at the level of steering or brake failures) but it is an issue that Honda needs to recognize and repair - quickly.

I even offered to pay the difference in invoice between a V6 and my car - give them back the defective vehicle and take a V6 so that Honda would not have to deal with the Lemon Law issues. So far no luck. I guess they want to do things the hard way hoping I will give up. They're wrong and I will be quite vocal about my dissatisfaction.

Just got my 2008 Accord. Same problem as everyone else. Headlights dim as the A/C cycles. Very disappointed that this is considered acceptable. I believe that this could be a very dangerous situation either by someone thinking you are flashing headlights at them, or by a trucker that thinks he can get over as he passes you because he sees a flicker from the headlights and he comes over too soon. Took my car to the dealer at there request and they said that the tech line is aware of the problem but there is no fix right now. A fix could be months to a year out or longer. Honda Corp. says this is normal and that there is nothing that they will do because all the 4 cyl accords do the same thing.
HAS ANY ONE GOT A SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION .ALSO DO THE 2009 ACCORDS DO THIS?

Just left the Dealer again today to try and get some resolution on the dimming headlights. The service manager said the representative from Honda Tech Line comments are" They are still looking into it and there in no new information however it is at the extreme engineering level and when information is released to them it will also go to the dealerships.
I am contacting the teamsters union to try to get some support from them as the international signal for truckers that they are at a safe distance to move into a lane is flashing of headlights. If we could get them on our side who knows what would happen. LETS NOT LET THIS ISSUE DIE>>>BEFORE SOMEONE DOES>>> FROM EITHER ROAD RAGE OR A TRUCK WHO THINKS THEY ARE AT A SAFE DISTANCE TO MOVE INTO A LANE AND THEY RUN ON TOP OF AN ACCORD>

Maybe trying to get the media involved is better. Also complain to motortend, week and all those "consumer" Mags. How on earth can they miss this problem? Motorweek just aired a long term test of the 2008 accord 4cyl-and said they loved it-no major problems. What the H?

my letter to Motorweek:

I wish to express my surprise with Motorweeks long term test drive of the 2008 Accord.I own a 2008 exl 4cly with automatic-similar to the one your firm "tested". Many people on various sites have complained about the accords dimming headlights. They dim about every 15 seconds when one is driving(including the taillights). More so when the a/c is on. Many people feel this "defect" is a serious higway safety issue-beacuse when theyy dim some people may think you are flashing them-etc.

Look at all the complaints on this issue on the NHTSA website IVOQ - File a Complaint

Also look at this site with some complaints: 2008 accord headlights dimming

I ask: what are your "testers" testing when they do a long term test? Have they ever did a nightime test on this car? It is impossible not to see this problem. It only occurs on the 4cyl models-not the v6's. Also did your testers notice that there is NO trunk liner in the trunk? It is an OPTION on the 4cyl-models. I had to pay 60 dollars to get one. I never heard of a car that did not offer a simple liner in its trunk. Also did your testers also notice that the battery is about 1/2 the size of a usual battery for a car this size? Look at the battery tray-only 2/3 of the tray is taken up by the battery-the battery looks undersized for this vehicle.

I would never had purchased this car if I had know of these problems-problems your company failed to realize.

I have an 02 Civic that has always done that. I doubt they will do anything about it until people quit buying them. I am planning a new car purchase and am looking toward a Subaru.
