Default Fuel pump and sending unit one piece on accord?

1990 accord. I was wondering if I can only buy the sending unit from the junkyard or if I have to get the whole thing. Gas gauge only works on the lower part of the gauge. Gas light still comes on. Thanks

for anyone that cares I figured it out myself. They are 2 separate units and the you can acces the sending unit without dropping the tank.

It's probably because you need to replace the whole fuel sender. I'm not sure where it is located in the Accord, but you could try to look under the rear seat or better yet, check your manual.

Before you begin, disconnect the negative battery cable, coz we wouldn't want electrical sparks flying around with highly flammable gas around. BE COMPLETELY SURE NOTHING THAT CAN SPARK A FIRE IS AROUND, since the gas tank will be pretty exposed while doing the replacement. After finding the location of the fuel sender, remove the screws around the access cover of the fuel sender so you can take of the cover (duh?), and see the fuel sender.

The fuel sender will have a wiring harness plugged on top (which tells the gas gauge how much fuel is in the tank). Unplug it, and set aside. If the fuel sender is screwed or bolted into place, remove them as well. Now, you can take the whole thing out and install the new one by reversing the steps. Don't forget to plug the wiring harness back or the gauge will not register anything!

Hope this helps!
