Hi i was wondering how much it would cost roughly for a honda civic 1996 dx coupe engine nad the labor. Also could i put in a different engine such as a Vtec? or other engine? and does anyone know how much that would cost? and where i can get one?Thanks in advance!

Probably so much that you should invest in a newer car.

the engine you could get for around $400 and I would guess around $600 and up to get it installed. You could get a Sohc Vtec motor but then you gotta get the wiring so you could get the Vtec to work and you will need a computer from a 1996 - 2000 ex.

if you're looking for the same engine like the one that you have engine it self goes for like 300 to 400 plus labor so about 600 to 700.. now for a swap it would be different.. if your looking for like an h22 vtec engine, engine itself goes for 1500 to 2000 and you still have to get a tranny for it coz your stock tranny wont fit like if you wanna put an lsd probably another 1500 to 2000.. thats only the engine and tranny no labor yet a good swap usually cost 6000 to 7000 depending on the engine and tranny that you want.. if you have the funds i say go for it.. get an h22 plus an lsd tranny.. performance shop usuaslly does it.. hope this helps..

you can get honda engines from a lot of places, i dont know where you live so i could give you a couple of sites online to look at. if you get the same engine a 1.6 liter inline 4, its gonna be around 700 dollars. you can yes install other engines i would suggest a, b18c you can get for around 2000- 4000 . usually used engines have around 30,000 miles or more on them.

Get a B16. The entire swap including labor will be about $3,000 for motor and all. You will be going from 95 HP at the wheels to 142 HP at the wheels. Basically like turboing the stock motor.

just go with a b18 motor out of an integra gsr, or for a little bit more money get a type-r motor you will be very satisfied
