well the only reason they would stop making any car is because they dont make any money off of it anymore. i wanted an insight, i think its the only hybrid u can get with a manual transmission and yes, hella cheap on gas. i guess they just didnt sell enough of them or whatever. once they stop making money from the cars theres no reason for them to keep making them u know

Well with the service of $6,345 for the Transmission or Transaxle - I can see why nobody likes them. Also take a look at these:http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor.../index.htmlAdd that to the fact that not many were sold.

Because it sucked. They are making better gas/electric cars now. Like the Civic and Accord hybrids.EDIT: My mistake... I guess people care more about power than gas milege. The Accord hybrid wasn't really worth the money if you break it down.

Thing is, the largest market segment in the U.S. are for family cars (cars that can seat at least 4 people). The Insight seats only 2. The average American household with Mom + Dad + 2.1 kids and limited disposable income are not going to consider the Insight when shopping for a new car. That's one of the chief reasons the Insight sold poorly, which is why Honda no longer makes it. In contrast, the 4-door Civic Hybrid sells quite well-- It's a more versatile vehicle.

Well for starters it looked terrible. It just wasn't a great car. Try the prius. It gets really good gas and though it looks like a trapazoid going down the road, it's very reliable and looks better than that little hunk of crap "insight".

Actually Honda made a huge loss out of every Insight sold. The purpose of that car was probably both promotional and r&d. They also make overtime r&d about alternative propulsion systems like fuel cell or hybrid, but they may prefer not to go commercial. The FCX experimental fuel cell vehicle was also an experiment, an r&d project, but the retail was limited to only a few fleets in Japan. Insight was actually a research program. It was an extreme car despite the practicality. Now it's starting to become pointless because there's significant improvement in gasoline engines and non-hybrid cars neared Insight in terms of consumption.

The insight was the first hybrid car but nobody wanted a hybrid when gas prices were 1.35 and they only sat two. then toyata made a knock off of it we know as the prius. honda is bringing back the insight in 2010 on earth day. its not quite as good on gas as the prius (only by about 3 to 5 mpg though) but it is supposed to be way more fun to drive, have way more features, and it looks better (it looks kinda sporty) than the prius.
