Default automobile engine check light is on what could be wrong?

1997 honda accord 74000 miles, automatic, checked the cannister @ cold idle ingine and found no vacum, vacum lines seem to all ok, what could be wrong

One or more of the systems the computer monitors is returning a value outside the range it expects to see, which triggers a check engine light. When your mechanic scans the system, he will know what error code(s) are in memory and will have a better idea of what is wrong.

maybe the charcoal cannister is cracked...and the charcoal got into the fuel injectors

Could be anything, including the evap line that controls your emissions. Anything different about the way your car drives?

Start by ensuring that your fuel cap cover is tightly closed. Then turn the car on and repeat the on-off cycle about 3 times. If the light does not go off then something else is wrong.
