Default Manual Transmission or 6-cylinder?

Should I buy a 02 Accord with a Manual Transmission (I4) or a 02 Accord with a 6-cylinder engine (AT)? I'm sad that they don't make a V6 MT.

Manual witha 4 cylinder is going to give you better gas mileage, etc, 6 cylinder with auto, maybe a few extra horses. With gas prices the way they are, go with the manual/4cyl, also your insurance will be cheaper.

There are no mods for the V-6Get the four. with the manual trans, it will be just as peppy as the 6. You`ll get better mpg with the manual trans anyway as you could run in economy mode if you had to. Too bad hondas dont have any torque. The diesel Golf/Jetta hauls ass AND gets 50mpg!Gas is $3 a gallon or more now...

drive both and see which one you like more....if they are of comparable condition, i would likely choose the automatic with the 6-cylinder.....since i only use my car for commuting, the auto comes in handy for a smoother easier commute....the six cylinder will not have to work as hard as the four cylinder to provide the same commute and will likely have less wear and tear.....good regular service to the transmission will lengthen the life indefinitely... clutches wear every time you use them and will require replacement...since i no longer want to zip here and there, clutches and manual transmissions are more of a nuisance than a benefit.. gas mileage is so close to equivalent that i would not even factor it....hope i was helpful....

Manual transmissions are usually very problem free and if I read this right, it is 4 cylindered? This should give quite nice mileage if driven correctly.Make sure to stand at the back of the car when they start it up for you and check that no blue smoke comes out of the exhaust pipe when first started up.That might be a sign of engine wear. Also, if possible get at least a month guarantee on the engine and the transmission -- in writing.Check the oil stick and see if the car is right now provided with somewhat clean oil. If is it running mud, it probably is in poor condition no matter its outside appearance. With a small magnet you also can check the body to see if there have been hidden accidents. The small magnet will not adhere to non-metal parts and thus discloses any serious repairs.
