how do you change the thermostat on a 2000 civic?

with engine cold, follow the top radiator hose to where it connects with the engine, disconnect the hose and the thermostat will be right there..

After the engine is cold disconnect the top radiator hose from the engine side, not the radiator side. Should be two bolts holding on a housing that the hose went onto, take those out. Remove the housing (most places call it water outlet housing). Thermostat will be inside there. You will most likely need a replacement water outlet gasket since most of them fall apart when you remove the housing.
