Default 2002 Honda Odyssey. Maintenance at the Honda Dealership??

My maintenance required light has been coming on in my 2002 Honda Odyssey. They recommend taking it to the Honda dealership to get maintenance. I called them though and they charge like 200 just for changing the oil and doing basic stuff. Can't I just take it to Walmart automotive or something like that . Do they do the same checkups on your car as the Honda place?

yeah the best place is a shop that works exclusively on hondas and acuras but are not the dealer...they charge less and will do a good job on maintaining your vehicle.... or you could try another shops but ask if they work on imports.

Same, the light on every few thousand miles to remind you change the oil,it says in the owner manual, also tell you how to reset it yourself. If you want to know how, then ask again.I'll tell you how.

your car was made by Honda and only Honda knows better like what parts needed for your car and whats wrong with your car so yes they will charge you a lot $ but its for your own good. so if you keep maintaining you Honda at someone else shop. you won't get the result of how longer your car will stay. so i will say stay with Honda even though they charge to much because will thank them someday when you car is over 250000 miles. so take it your Honda dealer and let them do the work for you. they have a very qualify and better technician that can handle anything on your car also when yo go there ask them for the reason of charging you much and try go to another Honda dealer for a different answer and prices. they problem sometime cause due to not changing your oil, your SRS Airbag not working or if you didn't close the Gas cap tight enough. so you better get the best result with high price or a bad result with cheap prices.

You must be having an every 15,000 mi checkup. $200 is par for the course. Not only is it an oil change, but also an inspection of other parts of the vehicle. If you're feeling ripped off, you're free to do just an oil change at the local 30-min place. Just don't be surprised when you have to shell out to get stuff fixed that get passed over during a simple oil change. Your Walmart auto is trained to do mechanical stuff at a universal level, not necessarily specific to your Oddy.
