Suggest the civic. Monster motor? Go with the 454 Big Block. That should scare the neighbor pets and children.

Neither car is capable of a monster motor swap, and neither is that great of a choice. If you want a project car, get a 5.0 mustang. They have 10 times the potential of either of those, are just as cheap to mod, and are more receptive to mods. CRXs and civics were made as slow family cars. Its extremely difficult to make them anything but that. Its fairly easy to buy a 5.0 mustang that runs 11s for under 5 grand.

Crx. Easier to drop in a obd1 motor. The Hatch is an 87 which will require more modification to do anything with. Also, its ugly. Find a newer Si if you want a hatch.

wow first I had a 5.0 1993 GT with a built 306 if you want specs hit me up 330whp spent $8000 built for a blower and thats $8000 on the motor alone and ran 12.7 1/4 on street tires yes with a blower slicks and suspension another $8000 it would of ran 10's.Ok first off the 1987 CRX Si is a rare and lesser used for performance. But people do swap engines check redpeperracing. And if I missed spelled it check google. A B18C type R engine would be nice and cams would make it rocket to high 13's in the 1/4 but for $4500-5000 for the swap it dosent make it reasonble yes there nice and rare but no one likes to mod this because the car is PGMFI and not Fuel injected like the other engine from 1988+.The 1989 CRX would be the best choice because 1988+ EF's have more parts aviable. Second floors dont rust out like the old ones. I suggest you to stop thinking NA yes some 1988 HF motors stock run low 13's at a strip but turbo cars run faster. A well built SOHC turbo D16A6 non vtec OBD-0 could run low 12's high 11's on Drag radial. Full slick say hello to 11.5's for under $5000 inculding turbo and motor. even faster if tuned right and driven right. Honda-tech.comhomemadeturbo.comef-honda.comturbod16.com
