Default Which car is better a 1991 Honda Civic Si Hatchback or a 1992-1995 Honda Civic Hatchback ?

Im 17yrs old in new jersey and im looking to buy either or but i want a car good for everyday use and racing. Light and upgradable. I have heard the Si is more upgradable motor wise because no welding has to be done to install motors, what motors are they. The 92-95 hatchback is all good because many parts are made for it. i need help and what are good mods to add to each car and what is the most hp i could get out of each car and how. THANKS!

well in both cars they have swap kits.the si is lighter and you swap a ls block with a v-tech gsr head but hey you can do that in the eg hatch too but it is easier too swap a h22 into the eg if you dont mind not havin power steering and ac but you need some pretty deep pockets to do either.my suggustion get the si too many ppl have the eg.at least in boston they do.

i have an 89 civic hatch...the swap cost more because of the wireing and things you need to do the swap. the 92 95 hatch is easier because everything made for it and only some things have to be changed making it cheaper. also the 9295 has tons of parts avalible for it.. so its much simpler. personally i like my car but my swap cost more than what i expected and is more complicated as well. so if its your first time and your not familiar with the honda game just gewt a hatch and have fun...much more easier and you will have fun.

92-95 years. There is basically motor mounts and harnesses for almost any honda/acura 4cylinder motor. But get the ex model which has 125hp, which is 17 more horsepower then the 91 si.

The civic si hatchback is more upgradable but, i think the civic hatchback is more economical. I had a 94 hatchback and it was the best car i ever had. It is really easy to find parts for them because all of the motor parts are interchangeable with any 92-95 civic. The hatchback is a really light car too (i guess the the si is to) but i have seen a lot of really cool stuff done to the hatchback and i have seen a lot of fast hatchbacks too. My hatchback now runs a 13.0 in a quarter mile. I would definitely suggest a 92-95 hatchback.

wow, nice answers. The EF 1988-1991 Civic Si hatchback has 105-108HP non-vtec motor and a close ratio 5-speed tranny. The EG 1992-1995 Civic hatchback come in many models best for out of the box perfromance is Si since it features a close ratio 5-speed unlike the DX,VX,CX.Stock EF Si and EG Si:First buy a clean car, no rust or ricer stuff. SOHC D16A6 EF Si and SOHC D16Z6 Vtec EG si are great motors both can handle boost like a champ 6-8psi on a tune motor and a T3 can make 220-230whp. The D16A6 motor can use a pep'er cam liek the one found in the ZC, Delta cam.com well sell one for under $100 and offer 10-15 more whp. Built bottom ends $1200 and this motors can boost 14psi on 93 octance and C16 race gas on weekends 18psiExample. My friend delsol si SOHC vtec has rods and piston ran 11.8 123mph in the 1/4 on slicks and prep, image a car that weighs less then that. Cost under $4000 to do everythingSwap:Any B-serious is bolt on with motor mounts, shift linkageH-serious and K-serious require you to cut a little. On cars, EF is OBD-0 and Si is the only multi-point, all EG's are multi-point which is better for the swaps, all EF's are multi-point
