The belt could just be worn out. Mine started squeaking like that and I replaced the belt and it was fine. If the have like an AutoZone or similar autoparts store in your area take it by there and ask them to look at it for ya!

Could be the fan belts. Make sure they're tight and not worn out. If they have any cracks or dry rot, be sure to replace them. One of these belts drives the A/C compressor as well.

I would suspect the serpentine belt (the belt that turns the pulleys on the outside of the engine) way before I would suspect the A/C compressor.

if it sqeals all the time or gets louder if you rev it up start by spraying some belt dressing on the belt while the engine is running, spray it on both sides . you can get this at all autoparts stores and even at walmart etc. if its still there or comes right back as soon as you stop spraying it try to see if comes right back. if it comes back or still squeals replace the belt and the idler pulley. you shouldnt have to pay more then $30 total for BOTH parts. replace them. while you have the belt off, feel the other pulleys with your hand and try to wiggle them back and forth and turn them by hand if you can. if any seem super loose have someone check it out.

Yes, it sounds like the compressor has gone to compressor heaven. I did a job like this today on a 92 Caviler, the compressor, labor and new gas cost $480 total. It's worth getting fixed if you live in a hot climate. The Accord will serve you for many years, you want to be cool right? If the squeeking is a rythmic squeek that goes faster with the engine revs, then it's just the belt like everyone else said.If it's a metalic squeek or rather squeel... then compressor is toast. BTW, you didn't say if you were getting any cold air??? If you are still getting cold air, then perhaps the squeel is coming from another accessory on the belt? Remove the belt and turn each pulley, you will be able to feel which one is not turning smoothly. Even start the car without the belt... but don't keep it running for more than a minute.

your dad could be right some times that's the problem and maybe he has looked at it and can see it but most the time something like that is just a loose alternator belt I would check all my fan belts before I condemn the A/C compressor. you see right after you start your car you have just drained alot of power form the battery and the alternator is trying its best to put it back so if the belt is loose it slips and makes noise. one way you maybe able to tell is if you go ahead and turn everything on except the a/c to load the electrical system down then see if you can hear the noise you were hearing good luck also sometime dads are smarter than you think

Not air compressor "Air Pump" for the smog system. Sounds more like loose or bad belts. Also air pumps don't last that long, 3 to 7 years, so pump mat be frozen up.
