Basically the steering wheel feels loose when driving. I've taken my car to a mechanic and they told me everything is nice and tight. They told me the only thing they could suggest is the tires (old and almost bare). I needed new tires anyways so I got all new tires. After it was fixed I drove it and I have more control over it but the steering wheel still feels loose. Am I a little paranoid about this or do you have any suggestions on my problem???

It's probably the tyres. As they get older, the sidewalls get softer and more flexible. Since this is the connection between the tread and the rest of the car, it means that when the wheels turn, the sidewall takes up some of that movement, so the tread takes a moment to catch up. This is why sports cars have low profile tyres with very strong sidewalls.Good luck!PS: Having your tyres underinflated can do the same thing - as well as soften the sidewalls even faster than usual. Make sure you have them set to the car manufacturer's recommended pressure.

its going to be your tie rod ends or your power steering rack.

The car is getting old, there is more wear in the steering rack. This is normal. Don't worry, it won't give up totally without fair warning. When it does give up, it will be when you are in a parking lot getting in or out of a spot and turning tight, the steering will just clank. You will still be able to drive it, but not hard turn the vehicle. It's still very safe... don't be worried. I'm certain you'll get another 10-15 years from this car easily.
