The most common type of noise from a door lock actuator is a heavy "buzzing" noise. The door lock actuator is basically an electro-magnet that pulls the door lock down when electrical current flows in one direction and pushes the lock linkage up when the current flow is reversed. When the magnetic fields start to break down because of higher resistance in the windings inside the actuator the door lock actuator starts to "grunt" as it works to lock the door.typically this condition only happens in one door so you should be able to isolate it to one door by sitting inside the car and using the remote to lock the door then listening for what door is groaning. The lock actuator will eventually fail. When it does, the front doors will still lock with the key but if it is a rear door lock that has the problem the door won't lock or unlock with the key or the remote. That means that if the problem is in a rear door and that door lock is open you will only 'lock' three doors when you press the remote or use the key. If you have an alarm on the car the alarm won't arm if one door lock is unlocked. If you want the security of knowing all doors are locked and that alarm activated you'll have to change the bad actuator when it fails entirelyhope that answers your question
