Ask two different Honda dealers. Go direct to the people responsible rather than gather opinions from those who may not know. COmpare those TWO answers. You can also contact the district Honda office - they have no financial gain so will give you an honest answer.

Yes, I own an 03 Civic with 60,000 miles and they actually keep harassing me about getting the warranty. I think you can do it all the way up to the 5th year of the car's age. After it is 5 years old, you're paying out of pocket. Although you think you need warranty, don't forget that you drive a Honda. For the first 8-10 years of the car's life it just needs oil changes and gas! Unless you drive it like you stole it... Good luck!

You are not eligible to purchase the Honda Care Vehicle Service Contract which is the name for the factory extended service contract. Original owners can only buy the contracts during the first 6 months of ownership and contracts on used cars must be purchased on cars sold by a Honda dealer at the time of delivery with no grace period. The service contracts (commonly called an "Extended Warranty") are more akin to a health insurance policy that insures you against the high cost of repairs if some covered item fails during the contract term. Because of the cost of repairs, Honda will not assume the risk on cars that have not gone through an inspection process that is part of the dealership sales requirements. This gives Honda some faith that the car that they are 'insuring' is in good health prior to their assuming the risk. Additionally, selling the policy at time of delivery only prevents a dealer from selling a 'lemon' and then selling a service contract on the car afterwards to cover problems that were in evidence at the time of sale.So you cannot purchase a Honda Care service contract on your car. That doesn't mean you can't buy an extended service contract from a provider other than Honda. There are many companies that compete for that business although their coverage is typically less comprehensive than Honda's and the price of their service contracts are higher. You can also purchase what is known as a 'mechanical breakdown insurance policy" with really is insurance through credit unions and banks that finance the car. The solicitations that the other gentleman mentioned to purchase a service contract are not from Honda; they are from non-Honda service contract companies. Most dealers will not sell service contracts on cars that they did not sell for the same reason that Honda won't--they have a much higher risk and potential liability on vehicles that they don't know if they're healthy or not.Hope that answers your questions

Yes, because Honda builds quality and they are always willing to sell you more quality at a price. If they won't then perhaps they are afraid of their own quality.
