Default Why is Honda going with a V10?, Why not a V12 and in-line Six?

Ok, back afew months ago people lambased me for wanting an S2000 with an inline 6. Well what do you think of Honda's upcoming V10? I think a V12 makes more sense from a smoothness point of view. Never ridden or drove a V10, I hear they are rough.

V10 is what they use in their F1 racers. The inline 6 must be a power horse! Chrysler made an inline 6, called the slant-6 back in the 70's. I bet you can still find one in the junkyard and I'll bet double that it still works!!! They were indestructable! It was a 225 cu in.

Almost everybody dropped their I6 engines except BMW and GM made a new one for trucks. The problem is they are very long which means its hard to fit into the car and still pass crash testing and not have a car with a hood that looks way too long. There is no way you could fit an I6 in a S2000 and not have to make the hood longer. Generally if you have enough room for an I6 then you have enough room for a V8 which makes more power and is easier to package.

V10 revving at 10,000RPM and under 3.0L pushing 500HP and some amounts of trq, I believe honda might release the NSX again but with more perfromance this time. Since Toyota plans to release the V8 Supra again

There's been lots of speculation about what's going to power the new NSX. Caution...with Honda, most speculations prove to be wrong. Also, it's unlikely whatever powers the new NSX will power anything else they make. Perhaps they might offer an abreviated V6 or V8 version, but not likely due to cost. Honda has published a white paper & is close to releasing their latest iteration of their VTEC, 'A-VTEC' (aka, Advanced VTEC), which will bring a measure of DOHC functionality to Honda's lineup of SOHC motors. This might add longevity to their current lineup of SOHC V6 powerplants. Honda is not about high displacement. They make their J series (SOHC, V6) motors for the USDM market (represented by bigger, heavier vehicles), but smaller displacement 4 cylinder DOHC engines fit closer to their core philospohy. Since Honda built their new Acura RDX from the ground up, they could have dropped a small V6 into it, yet opted for a turbocharged 4 cylinder instead.

id love if the NSX would come back... id buy one, probably the only japanese car i would buy.
i read somewhere that Acura (honda) will possibly be building a 4.2L DOHC V8 to compete against the BMW's, Mercades-Benz, Audi's and Cadillac CTS-V's

i think it was Car and Driver that wrote an article on it
