Default radio problem on 03 accord?

i recently bought 03 accord ex and the radio is not working. the display does turn on and the time keeps flashing on the screen. The battery was also recently replaced. could it be that i need a radio code?...when i tried pressing 1 and 6 for code nothing happens. The car also has pioneer dvd player installed which works just fine. Could this be the reason for the radio to be not working? plz helpany help would greatly be appreciated. thanks

you have to have the radio off, then press 1 and 6 hold, then turn the power on. that will give you the serial # so that honda can give you a code. if you need to enter a code then it will say code on the screen. if you have nothing then i would check fuse numbers 5 and 32 under the dash. if they are fine then unhook the negative battery terminal for 20min with the key on. hook it back up and try to put in your code. after that you need to take it to the dealer. if the clock is flashing then it is not the display problem. the clock is on the display so it would be dark too.

Honda had a product problem on that radio that caused the display to blank out even though the radio itself continues to play. Honda extended the warranty on the radio and will replace the radio display at no charge if your car is still within the extended warranty period of 7 years or 100,000 miles. Looks like you'll qualify for a free replacement. contact your honda dealer for repairs.here's what honda's bulletin 04-027 says(printed circuit board) could cause the audio display tobecome dark or dim, and prevent the audio/HVACpanel buttons from illuminating. To ensure that customers have adequate warrantycoverage for this potential problem, American Honda isincreasing the warranty on the audio unit display to7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. hope that helps
