I just bought a 2000 honda sir. dealership says its a vtec. this car is a automatic. I heard honda didnt make a automatic sir. Is this true?

As far as I know, all SI's are manuals. Sounds like the dealer is trying to hose you.

sorry SI's don't come in auto... only manual... i own 2 SI... you just got a Ex not a SI... ex is the only other civic model with vtec.. besides the si... take it back...

Unless you are in Canada the SI models are all manual. The US's EX is the Canadien SI which has a SOHC VTEC. They were offered in automatic because they are really EX models. Another way to tell is if you look under the hood and it should either have a black or red engine valve cover that says at the top DOHC VTEC. and on the bottom Honda Motor Co. If its silver and only says Honda, or Honda VTEC, then its just an EX model.

In the Philippines, the SiR only came in a 5 spd manual tranny on a stock B16A engine BUT you can shoe in the 4spd auto tranny of the Civic EX and it fits perfectly well. My mechanic was able to do it and it works like a charm! You can still feel the power of the engine but it won't "give" as much as the manual. I still have it. It's now installed in my 88 Accord LXi since the stock A20A3 quit on me and I can't find parts here in Manila. I just had to make slight adjustments on the engine mounts.
