there should be clips around the housing of the cabin air filter..you may have to use a screw driver to pry them off...their easier to put back on...once off you simply take off the top of the housing and remove the cabin air filter

Your cabin air filter is behind the glove box. you have to take out the glove box and the glove box frame to get to the filter. If the filter has not been changed before you will also have to remove the plastic cross brace to get the filter out.here's the instructions If the glove box swings down without any support, the hinges can be overextended and damaged. To prevent damage to the glove box hinge, use a piece of foam or a bundle of shop towels to support it.1.While holding the glove box remove the glove box stops—one each side there are tabs that pull out to release the stops.2.Remove the bolts, then remove the glove box3. Cut the plastic cross brace in the glove box opening with diagonal cutters in the area shown (on each end), and discard it. The plastic cross brace is at the lower rail and runs parallel to the lower dash opening. You may not have to do this if you have had the filter replaced before4. Remove the bolts, the screws and the glove box frame—this is the lower rail of the glove box opening.5.Remove the filter lid from the evaporator case. This is the vertical cover that has the filter behind it then pull out the dust and pollen filter (B).6. Install the filter in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator.7. Install the glove box frame and glove box in the reverse order of removal.hope that helps

The last post is correct, but to add a little more detail...
1) The bumpers on the door push INTO the glove box, then slide out. You have to hold the door halfway open while you do this. Two phillips head screws on the bottom of the hinges must be removed, then the door comes off completely. 2) Remove two phillips head screws at each end of the glove box cavity that go into the brace. 3) Use an 8mm open end / combo wrench to remove the two small bolts holding the brace at each end. They are both accessed from the front of the brace and have captured (spot welded) nuts attached to the brace. The one nearest the driver's side is a bi**h to get out - I had to pull back on the center plastic dash to get enough access. 4) The filter housing is vertical. Remove the plastic strip that clips over the top/bottom of the air plenum. Pull the filter out. 5) I am cheap, so blew out, vacuumed off and banged the filter on the ground until most of the dirt was out. The filter was still pretty grungy looking, but I didnt want to blow $25 on the new one. Banging the filter on the ground worked best of all - got most of the little junk out this way. 6) Agree with vacuuming the cavity after removing the filter. I also found that if you turn on the blower to HIGH while the filter is removed spews a lot of additional junk out of the housing. Have the vacuum handy to pick it up. 7) Installation reverse order of removal. 8) Way harder than it should be - which the Honda engineers fixed on later models. |
