Default I have a 2005 Honda Civic. Does it have anti-lock brakes?

It's a four-dour sedan - but the cheap one. There are no bells or whistles on this car. I need to know for insurance purposes.

The LX or DX models do not have ABS. The EX does.

Go out to the car and turn on the key without starting it. If you have anti lock brakes an icon will light up on the dashboard to show the on board computer doing the anti lock brake self diagnosis. If you see this then your car definitely have anti lock brakes. It won't tell you if you have four-wheel or two-wheel, but the only vehicles I know of that have two-wheel ABS are trucks

This information should be in your owner's manual. You can also look for an ABS light that lights up when you turn the car on. Additionally, you need to be sure* of this answer, so if you don't know for yourself, you might want to take it to a garage, otherwise you might be comitting insurance fraud.

turn the key to on, do not crank it. if it has abs, there should be a abs light that comes on for about 3 seconds. the light color is ussually yellow.

put the key in the ignition like your about to start the car and look at your dash panel (like where your check engine/oil/fuel lights are) and see if an ABS symble appears anywhere.... usually all newer cars have ABS, but if you have a DX model it might not be included.
