THEY ADD EXTRA WARRANTY TO IT ,IT IS JUST A SALE'S PITCH TO MAKE THE CAR SOUND BETTER . CERTIFIED IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN THE DID EXTRA CHECKS ON IT AND IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER , BUT ALL CARS HAVE TO BE INSPECTED FOR SALE

Those are the extra clean or "like new" cars that come from an old lady who never drove anywhere but to the donut shop down the street. That "certified" thing is just crap to get you to pay top dollar. If you noticed, you can usually buy a NEW car of the same model as a certified for just a few $ more.

Um. Well first of all pre-owned means someone had responsibility for it before you. Certification means a lot of different things every car dealership has a different method of certifying each and every car. Meaning one shop can do a good check and the next can put the keys in the ignition make sure it starts for them and well put a price tag on it. Whether or not it starts for you at home the next day is a different subject. Some car dealerships have warranties and some tell you to deal with the situation yourself. Sometimes if you get a Lemon (car that is supposed to be in good working condition but conks out after a day or so), there are laws to protect you so you can get your money back, sometimes that doesn't help. Make sure you have the car tested by someone you trust, unless you are sure those breaks will hold! LOL People are cruel and mean sometimes!

Unfortunately, not all used cars are inspected prior to resale. A "Certified Pre-Owned" vehicle is required to meet the factory specifications for a new car, and all inspection points are signed off by the mechanic(s), and these inspection points are specified by the insurance company that sells the extended warranty, not the factory and not the dealership. This insurance company is based in Chicago, ILL, and they keep track of ALL vehicle breakdowns and repairs that are done at dealerships and many ASE mechanic/repair shops. They know down to the mile when a part is likely to fail, and they keep track of this information and extended warranty prices are based on this information.

It's just another name for a USED car with the exception of being checked by the dealership on specific parts on the car. It's llike the garbage man being call a Sanitary Engineer.

Because most lenders will not finance a used car that is not certified. They certify it to give it that extra warranty. Lenders feel safer knowing that it has the warranty.

It's just marketing baloney. If I print you a certificate, then I can certify anything on this earth. That's what certified means - to acknowledge on paper. Look it up in the dictionary. If you're the kind of person that would pay more for a pre-owned car than a used car, then I'd say you're pretty open to suggestion. Obviously people do really think that way, or else they wouldn't use such silly tactics. No matter what you call it, it's a used car that somebody else drove for years. It's okay.
