I have a ZC with a Vtec head, but the vtec doesn't work and the head got messed up. So I need to get a new one. I just want to know if the Vtec head actually going to work so I can just get a Non-Vtec head.I have a CRX I just changed the motor, but I'm using all stock parts. All I changed was the motor block and I put a vtec head. I'm don't want to get the ECU so I just put the Vtec direct. All I want to know if it will work if I put a vtec head on a ZC block. How does the motor it self doesn't control the vtec. How does the oil get to the selenoid?

Hi, got some news for ya. i did the exact same thing to my crx. ran it like that for 6 months. Your car will run fine but you will never have vtec unless you buy the proper ecu. The oil gets to the solenoid by the ecu signal. Once I bought the proper ecu the difference was amazing.So if money is tight just put the vtec head on and wait till you can invest in the ecu and distributor.Oh, and if you need help you can email me at trainwithvince@yahoo.comProud Crx owner for 9 years.

so this is a replacement motor for the D16A6 si motor, yes a vtec head works, but look here, if you using a OBD1-2 head you need to either convert your car to OBD1-2 or convert back, this means changing dizzy, injectors, and getting a restior box, go to honda-tech.com look into ef section on top and FAQ's your trying to due a mini vtec by the way
