But what about the torque... if you look up torque you'll know its a force that moves the car. Without making more torque you're engine pretty much is making more noise than power. So go ahead make 210 HP, but only 102 FT/LBS torque. Torque is also derived from the liters of displacement. So if you're like 300lbs & have an automatic you're screwed. automatics have to be modified whenever you add any power to the engine. So as you can see it gets expensive to play around with a SMALL engine.

I have no idea what that lst guy was talking about. Take out the stock motor, put a B16 type R motor in it, ttpe R lsd tranny, dc headers, aem col air intake, aem fuel rail, some type of new exhaust, a new computer chip, and then take it to the dyno. It might cost u about 6-8 thousand dollars, but you will be running well over 210 hp. I know, I have done it, and nobody can beat me!!

t3/t4 turbo charger intercooled 16PSI, blow off valve, before you do this strengthen up the rods and get the forged pistons. Injen cold air intake, new plugs& wires. most of all, get a better wheels/tires and suspension. you need all that power to go somewhere don't you????

Well apparantly everyone here is idiots. The LX is a base model with a horrible engine. The most you are going to get from this motor is about 200 HP tops. The B16 and B18 are good motors, but would require too much retro-fitting into the newer frame, not to mention the wiring nightmare. The first option is to turbocharge the current engine, BUT you can only run 6 PSI of boost on the stock internals of the LX engine without problems, this is only going to get you maybe about 160 HP at the front wheels, since it only puts down about 95 HP from the factory at the wheels. If you wanted more power from it then a complete build would be in order, such as lower compression pistons, forged rods, cam, aftermarket fuel manangement for upgraded boost, ETC,ETC... this would put you in the $10,000 range. Now the second option is to buy a K20 and do a motor swap. Not only will it save you money, but it will be faster and stronger than the LX engine. They put down right at 200 HP at the front wheels, and are pretty straight-forward in this car. Plus as an added bonus the potential for more power is there being as everything is still stock. The LX engine would be maxed out power wise, and still make less HP than the K20 and cost more doing so than just doing the engine swap.
