Water will go in your engine and your screwed and your oil wont be oil. thats why people should at least put bypass valve on it for what about 50 dollars its a good investment

I am sorry to say, you probably hydro-locked your engine. Try and crank it over on dry land. If it does not crank, you hydro-locked it and caused internal engine damage.

If the engine was hydrolocked by sucking water into the intake you could have a REAL mess on your hands. Bent rods and valves are the most common if this occurs.

Don't try to start car change oil filter, and clean out air filter the wires should be OK then let dry out then try to start, remember to let dry out as much as possible, hope this helps.

It may be something as simple as a wet ignition system. Spray the ignition system with WD40. Spray inside the distributor cap if your car has one.It could also be much more serious. If the engine took on a large amount of water, it could have hydraulicked a piston. Water does not compress. On the compression stroke, it would bend or break a connecting rod or break the crankshaft. If this happened, the motor may be trash. Remove all of the spark plugs and spin the motor over with the starter. Listen for any internal knocking. If the motor will not spin over with the starter, disconnect the battery. Place the transmission in neutral and turn the motor by hand with a socket on the crankshaft pulley. If the motor does not turn, you have internal damage. As this is a 14 year old car, I would not think it would be worth the expense of a new motor, but this is up to you.Cold water hitting the very hot internal parts could cause cracks.

Water does not compress well so the engine would stall. When you are going slow at low rpm, you usually don't damage the engine. Just take the spark plugs out, then crank the car for few times. The water will be thrown out by the piston. Do this for about 3 -5 minutes to get much water out of the engine as possible. Also the throttle body may rust so you want to do this while you press the accelerator 1/4 way down. Reinstall the spark plug and car would start afterward. White smoke would puff out of exhaust for some time, but it should start. Once you got it started and warm up the engine, you might want to change the oil to get rest of the water out of the engine. The worst thing that could happen is when water gets into cylinder while you are driving at high speed. Water would not compress well. So the piston would dead stop and rotation force would be enough to break crankshaft into pieces.
