an emergency!? Currently in school and working, this is my only car and I can not afford for it to be towed and worked on. I've replaced the disc brakes of one other car. I can't find the directions.I need to do this by tonight, because I work tomorrow evening. Please give me a website if possible. I would like a step by step with pictures. The brake pad is down to the metal and is grinding the rotor. Thanks ahead of time.

I would do some google searching. I recomment going to a library and picking up a chilton book if you are unsure. replacing disc brakes is very easy. also, you mentioned that the metal is grinding the rotor. this means, you may also need to replace the rotor and not just the pads. you are not supposed to put the pads on a worn rotor.

It would be helpful if you had a haynes repair manual on your car. But here is how you do it. First you need to raise the front or just one side of your car. Take the wheel off. On the brake caliper (the thing that the pads are in) there will be two bolts on the inside you will need to take off. Take these off and then pull the caliper off of the brake rotor (the round silver disc). Remove the pads one at a time and then replace with new ones the same way the old one came off. Make sure the rotor is in at least OK shape. If it is in bad shape (gouged very badly) it will have to be replaced. All in all replacing the two rotors and a set of pads should be around $75.00. $20 for the pads, $25 each for the rotors. If the rotor aren't to bad use them for now. Good luck
