Looking to buy an exhaust system on my honda 2001 LX civic, but I have only 200 dollars.I dont want it to sound like a "Pissed off bumblebee" ---- if that makes sense
Or should I buy a decent cold air intake?Either way, Ill have the both of these within a month. But which first. What kind should I get...which exhausT? |

Go for the cold air intake! That way you get added horsepower without the bumblebee effect. In my opinion, there's way too many tuners that just concentrate on making their cars sound loud, but don't do any actual performance mods. I don't think you will regret the intake and go for the exhaust as your next mod, after you've done some research. Check out cardomain.com for other tuners that can point you in the right direction.Good luck!

To be honest here, and this is over 7 years Honda experience it isnt worth it to mod your engine unless it would be a turbo kit which would only increase your car HP 40-70whp. And is this car maunal prob not. I would look into a K24 motor swap 200WHP and lots of trq to boot

if the car is automatic, don't waste your money on either. if you're serious about performance, then get the intake first. you only have $200 and a decent exhaust system upgrade costs way more than that. you should do some more MINOR tweaking under the hood before springing cash for the exhaust so that when you do get it, you'll notice somewhat of a difference.its funny...i have a 2006 lx; if you and i had an opportunity to get our hands on a turbo charged ride or a turborcharger, WE WOULD HAVE ONE. but we don't. whether it's due to financial reasons or whatever, we're just trying to make do with what we have. i personally would be happy from a 7-12hp gain- even if it's not all at the wheel. it's a start. it's a project. it's hoping that one day i'll be able to get that turbo (if they even make it) and create a decent sleeper. if your ideals are similar to mine, the car is stick, and you really are into or want to be into tuning, then don't get discouraged and get the intake for starters. besides, that's where most people on limited budgets start anyway.
