Default Uprating engine on 1986 Honda Civic 1.5?

I have a 1986 Honda Civic Shuttle estate with a 1.5 engine and autobox. Great little car but sometimes lacking in power, especially on a long incline while carrying a load.So I'm thinking of either some way to upgrade the existing engine, or drop in a more powerful engine from another model.(My pipedream is to install a 3.2 V6 from a Honda Legend but would value more sensible suggestions!)Note: I don't want to replace the car with a different one, just modify this one.

The most sensible thing would be to buy a new(er) car. Your 20 year old Honda with an auto is not worth putting one penny in to upgrade it. Hondas from that era were under powered compared to newer cars. I had an '86 Accord LXi 2.0L and it only had 112 horsepower. There will be no easy engine swaps to fit in that little tin box.

I know you probably don' t want to hear this but for the cost and the headache of modifying a 1986 model you could buy a 199X model.
