Default I have a Honda Civic '95. At about 40 mph; I get a sound like my engine is knocking. Doesn't do...

...it in idle... It almost sounds like it could just be the tires or something, except that when I tap the throttle it seems to have an effect. However, I can rev. it up in neutral all day without any kind of noise. Any ideas?

You probably have piston or rod slap or even cam slap. Your engine is worn and tolerances have expanded to your parts in the engintekinda tap against each other.

engine wear is probably your problem . piston slap or valve clearance like guy # 1 said .i see an engine rebuilt in your future or a used engine

you need to have your valves adjusted. It should be done about every 80,000 on a 95' civic.
