Default Is it worth putting a turbo kit in my 97 accord?

I was wondering if it was worth spending money on a turbo kit for my accord 97 with a v-tech engine... And if anyone know any good sites that sell them?

adding usable horsepower to any engine is always a good idea. done right, and used properly, you can actually improve fuel economy as well as performance. the first thing though is to determine your engine condition. remember that adding boost is also adding stress to the engine, and if the engine is worn, it will break. thus i recommend freshening up the engine first. while there add a cam designed to work with a turbo charger. you will also need to upgrade the fuel system to allow for the needed fuel flow when under boost. you should also have your transaxle upgraded to handle the added power as well.

THE KIT AND THE INSTALLATION WILL COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE CAR IS WORTH.PUSHING A 4 CYLWILL WEAR THE ENGINE OUT QUICKER THAN ITS DESIGNED.AIR INDUCTION,EXHAUST UNRESTRICTEDAND A GOOD CAM WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT AND WON T HURT THE ENGINE AS QUICKLY.

Well, let's weigh this out: $3,500 and 200 labor hours to purchase, install and tune a turbo for a $3,500 car?Sorry, but this just doesn't add up. You would do better to buy a $5,000 Mustang GT which comes stock with more hp than you will squeeze out of a Honda with a crackerjack turbo kit.

Default Re: Is it worth putting a turbo kit in my 97 accord?

Blue book value of well-equipped 97 accord EX in good condition is $4800, not $3500. With turbo this car will have approximately 240 HP, (depending on boost, possibly more), price of comparably equipped 1997 Mustang GT is $4700, $1200 cheaper than a $3500 turbo for the Accord. And, a Mstang GT of the same era has only 215HP stock, which is less than the Turbo-Charged Accord. In addition, the Accord Handles much better than the GT and would in my opinion be a better choice. (by the way the Honda is worth more than the Mustang, and will last longer, as Honda's reputation proves.)
