Your throttle cable is going bad, and it will soon break. Get it replaced as soon as possible.

its not your throttle cable. your problem is that you have a carbon build-up in the throttle body and on the throttle plates that is causing the plates to bind on the carbon. the good news is that the condition is not terminal. the carbon can be cleaned out by removing the air bellows to the throttle body (follow the big black tube from the air cleaner to the intake and it will end at the throttle body). Remove the bellows and then use a spray carburetor cleaner that you can buy at any parts store and an old toothbrush to desolve the carbon and scrub off any hard accumulations. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then take it to a technician and ask to have the throttle body cleaned.I've seen this condition hundreds of times and cleaning the throttle body and plates always cures the conditon.hope that helps
