the problem? My car is due for its 6 month servicing. I called our local Honda dealership. They said it is most likely the fuel pump relay that transmits fuel and information to the starter. They said it was a common problem among Honda Accords from the early 90s. They recommended to replace this fuel pump relay. This would cost $190. They indicated they could check if this fuel pump relay works or not. That would cost $130. Given these costs, they suggested I directly get the fuel pump relay replaced for $190. This makes sense to me. But, I am no car mechanic. Does it make sense to you? Or, do you know of other likely possibilities? What should I do?

Take it to someplace other than the dealership. A quick diagnostic check will confirm if this is the problem and it SHOULD NOT cost $130.However, it is likely that this is the problem, but it could be something simple like plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc.

Check the vacuum line that goes to the fuel pressure regulator for leaks.And repair if necessary.A fuel pump relay takes about 10 minutes to change and auto zone can tell you where it is located.Cost is about $30.00 for the relay.

IT PROBELY NEED A STARTER

probably the spark plugs or the fuel injector.

to me it could be either the starter,battery or fuel problem but i would probably have my batt and started check first then we can go for fuel

if the problem occurs after you park your car in the sun all day then come out to start it and the car cranks and cranks and cranks but does not start then the problem is with the main relay that powers the fuel pump and the engine ignition systems. The problem usually occurs because the interior temperatures in the car cause the circuit board in the relay to crack and break contact as it expands. when it cools down the circuit 'reconnects' and you can start the car.the relay itself is about $50 at a Honda dealer. You really can replace it yourself. The relay is up under the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. It is roughly behind the coin tray on the left side of the dashboard.the relay is usually grey in color but could be brown. It will have one bolt holding it in place on top and a connector on the bottom.if this sounds like your problem, buy the relay. If you're not confident about putting it in, find a local repair shop to put it in for you. They'll probably charge you $25 at most to install it.The relay is a very common problem on that model.hope that helps.

Take the fuse out that says acg it should be by the srs if you have airbag sometimes the alarm system keeps the car from cranking i had this problem in my 1992 honda civic Or check the fuel filter mine locked up and would not deliver gas. easy replacment and alot cheaper. try these first.
