Default my honda is not working right....................?

My spedometer works when it wants to the light around the D when I put it in drive is blinking (on the dash) and when I slow down to stop it is surging....I took it the electrical mechanic and he said it was in the transmission and the transmission guy said that it was eletrical and neither one fixed it or even tried....My husband and the guy at the parts place seem to think it is the speed sensor or the idol control?! anyone ever had this problem before?! HELP?!Look I have to commute to work every day and if you dont have anything helpful to say dont answer the question! Besides they make more honda cars and parts in the us than anywhere else now a days.the shi.tiest car I EVER had was american made. Look at GM for example.....what "CARS" do they have that are worth a sh.it?

If the "D" light is blinking that is the factory indication of an electrical problem with the transmission. The transmission vehicle speed sensor is the input for the speedometer as well as for the fuel injection control system that determines when to upshift and downshift the transmission.you can have someone "pull the code' from the onboard system to confirm the problem is with the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) but from your description it almost certainly is.there are several places that will plug in the diagnostic scan tool and pull the code for free. among them are AutoZone parts stores and AAMCO transmissions. Stop by one on your way to work or on the way home and ask them to pull the code for you. then you can be sure instead of going on a spending spree buying things on guesses. If it is the VSS as I guess it is, its easy to replace.hope that helps

Hey I like you Honda guy. I love the fact that places like AdvancedAuto and Auto Zone will pull codes for free. I recently had to have a code pulled and I knew instantly what was wrong with the car. Love the fact that it takes all the guess work of repairing the vehicle and unnecessary mechanic bills.Don't worry so much about your spedometer working it's not like your car isn't able to get you to work and back. Just do the speed of those around you. In the mean time do have your codes pulled and then ask around for a decent mechanic that you can trust. I agree with you re: "American made" cars. More specifically Ford, GMC, Chevy. Even though we're seeing Toyota made here in America I too would sooner buy a Toyota (especially the Tacoma) and a Honda. Good Luck!
