What is the actual invoice on this vehicle?I am seeing a couple of different numbers online. I am getting $19,696 at my local dealer and $18,500 at a dealer an hour away. Why such a big price difference?Who's being more honest/what are the catches?I plan to get the extended warranty for $1499(7 years/100,000miles).Heard of GAP insurance? It's $595 to get vehicle protected if stolen or totaled(pays the difference that regular insurance doesn't).Any advice on buying the 2007 Honda Civic Sedan EX AT?

I can give you some advise that if more people used import prices would go down especially hondas. The honda accord is hondas second most recalled car at 160 recalls since 1990 the accord is hondas most recalled car with 184.Honda has the highest recall average of any company I could find with 514 recalls and only 19 models they average 27 recalls per model. The most recalled american vehicle is the ford f150 with 152 recalls and is tied with the chevy suburban also with 152 recalls.Let me give you a valuable link to see which car is best for you.http://www.mycarstats.com/auto_recal...os_recalls.asp Also check out the insurance institute for highway safety and any safety rating site you can find.Safety and reliabilty should be a major part of why anybody chooses a car.Good luck with your purchase and if you go to honda point out the recalls and if they don't lower the price at least two grand start to walk away and if they won't lower the price there are other dealers with better cars who will.

You should be able to haggle the dealer down a few grand more. You could also tell them to add something to the car for that same price. The Civic Sedan SI with alot more features than the EX and more power would sell for 2-3 grand more thats alot for an EX you should keep haggling or get the SI. Thats just my $.02 but its your choice. Just dont forget the power of haggling the dealer gets cash even if they sell it to you at invoice. So dont feel bad.

The actual invoice of the Civic EX AT is $17,955 with a dealer destination charge of $595. That is the charge that all dealers must pay to have the vehicle delivered to their dealership. The dealer that is offering you the vehicle for $18,500 is actually selling for under the cost of $18,550 but there is a small amount of dealer hold-back that is given to the dealer to help pay for advertising and overhead so it is not like they are really loosing $.As for the Warranty you are paying a premium for this as their cost is around $1000 more or less. The GAP stands for Guaranteed Asset Protection and it is not acually insurance but a package plan you purchase that covers you for any negitive equity you have in the vehicle. This should be purchased if you put less than 20% down on the car as it pays the difference between what you owe and what the car is worth and we all know that a car will depriciate the minute it is driven off the lot.You are getting the car for about invoice so with 20% down you will not need to pay the $595 for Gap.If the closer dealer has the car you want tell them that the dealership 1 hour away has the same car for the price you were quoted. Tell the Sales Manager you will buy from them including the warranty and gap for the same price. If they balk at that walk away and drive 1 hour to save that kind of money.I bet they blink first.
