Default Why does my Honda Civic EX stall like it's running out of gas when I have a quarter to an

eight of a tank left It runs fine when it's full but when it gets to a quarter to an eight left, it stalls like it's out of gas. I can start it back up most of the time and make it to a gas station. Everytime this happens I put about 20 dollars in and that's always about 7 or 8 gallons. I know the tank is bigger than that. I thought maybe this was my fuel pump, but I've heard of this happening to someone else and replaceing the pump didn't help.

Maybe the fuel filter is clogged? Have you replaced that in a while?

You could have a lot of water in the gas tank. Go to WalMart and get some of that "gas booster" stuff that will break the water molecules up so they can be burnt off with the gasoline...you might have to use it two or three times, but it's worked for me before.Good luck!

it could be your fuel pump..or you gauge could be bad and when it shows and eight of a tank its really empty..but im sure your fuel tank doesnt hold more then 10 gallons...you shouldn't run your car on a quarter or less cuz that fuel pump is really have to work to draw that fuel and that causes your pump to over heat and thats the cause for fuel pumps going out..so your fuel pump is probably going out.. just try and keep it half or better..hope this helps

Do you have the proper gas cap for this car, and make sure it is tightened three clicks.
